About the study

What is rheumatoid arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the tissue lining of the joints, most commonly the small joints of the wrists, hands, and feet. This can cause pain, swelling, stiffness and fatigue. If left untreated, the unchecked inflammation can lead to permanent joint damage. RA can also affect other parts of the body, including the skin, eyes, lung, and heart.
